The assistance received from Myanmar on Disaster Relief work in Sri Lanka

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Yangon, Myanmar is pleased to report about the valuable support received from the Government of Myanmar and the charity, business, and private entities of Myanmar as well, for the ongoing disaster relief efforts in Sri Lanka, resulted due to Cyclone Ditwa.
The Government of Myanmar has shown its solidarity towards the Government of Sri Lanka, providing assistances and contributions, during this critical period, including a monetary donation of USD 100,000, a donation of 500 tons of rice, and 5.62 tons of medicines and medical products, and 2.16 tons of consumable goods. These donations underscore the long standing diplomatic ties and friendship between the two countries.
In addition, the Embassy is thankful for the valuable contributions received from private and business entities in Myanmar, and from the Sri Lankan community residing in Myanmar, as well. A significant contribution of USD 10,000 in cash, was received from Most Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara Mahanayake Thero, the President/Founder of the Sitagu International Buddhist Missionary Association, Myanmar. Also, Myanmar Kyat (MMK) 20 million (approximately LKR 1.67 million) was received from Guston Amava & Amava Apparel Company Ltd, a renowned apparel company in Myanmar. A contribution of USD 5,927 was received from the Sri Lankan Association in Myanmar, which was directly remitted to the Sri Lanka Government’s Dollar Account, specifically opened for the relief purposes.
The Embassy extends its heartfelt gratitude to all contributors for their timely and generous support. These contributions will directly assist Sri Lanka in addressing urgent needs and relief requirement arisen from the recent disaster and also reflect the persistent solidarity and friendship between Myanmar and Sri Lanka in times of crisis.
