A Sri Lanka cultural performance at a Monastery in Yangon, Myanmar, to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka

A Sri Lanka Cultural Performance by the visiting Cultural Troupe of the Aukana Rajamaha Viharaya, was organized by the “Pha Yar Thone Zu Pariyotti Buddhist Monastery”, in Thumingalar Ward, Thingangyun Township in Yangon, Myanmar, commemorating the 77th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka. The event was held on the late evening of 4th February 2025.

The Cultural team was headed by Mr. Pradeep Kumarasingha, a veteran dancer and the Dancing Instructor/teacher of the Galnewa Maha Vidyalaya, Sri Lanka, under the guidance and patronage of the Chief Incumbent of Aukana Maha Viharaya in Sri Lanka, Ven. Sastrawelliye Dhammakiththi Thero.

The event was organized with the direction of the Most Ven. Nyannobhasalankara, Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Pha Yar Thone Zu Pariyatti Monastery of Myanmar, and with the participation of Ven. Vijaya, of Pa Thein Monastery, Ven. Vilasa of Sasana Lankara Monastery and Ven. Sukhacara of Chan Thar Gyi Monastery of Myanmar.

With a group of six Theros who arrived from Sri Lanka, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Prabashini Ponnamperuma and the staff of the Embassy, and the rest of the group that accompanied the Cultural Troup, also graced the occasion. A large crowd including the Monks, and Nuns, the Board Members, disciples, sponsors and followers of the Monastery participated in the event, and enjoyed the Sri Lankan dance performance.
